It's been over ten years now that fans of Noragami have been waiting for the return of Yato, Hiyori, and Yukine in anime. Aired in 2015, the second season Noragami Aragoto had established itself as one of the best adaptations of its time thanks to its polished animation, memorable soundtrack, and balance between action, emotion, and humor.
However, since the end of this season, no official announcement concerning a Season 3 has been made, despite a very active community worldwide.
Manga Now Completed
One of the main arguments that previously prevented a new adaptation was the lack of content. This is no longer the case.
The Noragami manga, written by Adachitoka, officially concluded in January 2024, after more than 13 years of publication. The story is therefore complete and offers more than enough chapters to produce several new seasons.
Yato's adventures, revelations about his past, and the development of Yukine and Hiyori could thus be adapted without difficulty.
Why is Season 3 taking so long?
Since Noragami Aragoto, Studio BONES has focused on several major franchises such as:
- My Hero Academia
- Mob Psycho 100
- Bungo Stray Dogs
- Gachiakuta
These productions have naturally monopolized a large part of the studio's teams, leaving Noragami aside despite its popularity.
To date, BONES has never confirmed the definitive abandonment of the series, but no resumption project has been announced yet.
A Franchise That Remains Very Popular
Despite this long absence, Noragami continues to attract new readers and viewers. Many still consider the work to be one of the best fantasy shōnen of the last decade.
Between the spectacular fights, endearing characters, the world of Japanese deities, and numerous emotional scenes, the series still has an extremely loyal community today.
Is a Season 3 Still Possible?
With a manga now complete, an ever-present audience, and enough content to adapt, the hope for a Season 3 remains very real.
Many franchises have been relaunched after several years of absence, sometimes more than ten years after their last broadcast. Noragami fans therefore continue to hope that an official announcement will eventually arrive.
